Thuthuka offers a bursary fund like no other, going beyond mere financial support for tuition, books, meals, residence fees, and accommodation. Our program adopts an integrated and holistic approach to ensure student success, providing comprehensive “wrap-around” support, including:
- Academic assistance: Additional tutorials, study skills workshops, and various academic enrichment programs.
- Social and emotional support.
- Work-readiness and life skills training.
- Mentoring and counseling.
- Access to a dedicated program manager and exposure to experienced chartered accountants and business leaders as mentors.
This model empowers Thuthuka students to excel beyond their peers, equipping them with the readiness to tackle workplace challenges.
Qualifications for Thuthuka Programme:
To be eligible to apply for the Thuthuka program, you must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Identify as Black African or Coloured.
- Be in Grade 12, have completed Matric within the last two years, or be a university student pursuing a CA-stream BCom degree.
- Have achieved a minimum of 60% (5 or above on the NSC scale of achievement) in Mathematics in Grade 11 (Maths Literacy and Technical Maths learners are not considered).
- Have applied (or be in the process of applying) for a BCom Accounting (CA-stream) degree at a SAICA-accredited university offering the Thuthuka program.
- Come from a family with a combined income of R350,000 per annum or less.
- Write the National Benchmark Tests (NBT).
