irst Year at KBS (Based on Matric Results)

Category One: Full Bursary (R68,000)

  • Requirements: Minimum 75% in Core Mathematics or Accounting and English (1st language) OR minimum 80% in English (2nd language), overall average of 80% or more.
  • Benefits: Covers 100% of KATAPULT Tuition and Examination fees for a full year.
  • Student Responsibility: KATAPULT registration fee, textbooks, and other miscellaneous fees.

Category Two: Half Bursary (R34,000)

  • Requirements: Minimum 65% in Core Mathematics or Accounting and English (1st language) OR minimum 70% in English (2nd language), overall average of 70% or more.
  • Benefits: Covers 50% of KATAPULT Tuition and Examination fees for a full year.
  • Student Responsibility: KATAPULT registration fee, 50% balance of tuition and examination fees, textbooks, and other miscellaneous fees.

Category Three: Part Bursary (R8,500)

  • Requirements: Minimum 60% in Core Mathematics or Accounting and English (1st language) OR minimum 65% in English (2nd language), overall average of 60% or more.
  • Benefits: Covers 12.5% of KATAPULT Tuition and Examination fees for a full year.
  • Student Responsibility: KATAPULT registration fee, 87.5% balance of tuition and examination fees, textbooks, and other miscellaneous fees.

Years 2 and 3 at KBS (Based on Academic Performance)

  • Category One: Full Bursary
    • Requirements: All modules passed at maximum 80%, overall average of 85% or more.
    • Benefits: Covers 100% of KATAPULT Tuition and Examination fees for a full year.
    • Student Responsibility: KATAPULT registration fee, textbooks, and other miscellaneous fees.
  • Category Two: Half Bursary
    • Requirements: All modules passed at minimum 75%, overall average of 80% or more.
    • Benefits: Covers 50% of KATAPULT Tuition and Examination fees for a year.
    • Student Responsibility: KATAPULT registration fee, 50% balance of tuition and examination fees, textbooks, and other miscellaneous fees.

Additional Notes:

  • Bursaries are credited to the next academic year’s fees and not paid out directly to students or parents.
  • Preference given to students from previously disadvantaged communities and/or facing extreme financial difficulties.
  • Bursary applications are evaluated by the Management Team, with final approval from the Managing Director.
  • Bursary confirmations are made in February, with the Managing Director having final discretion.
