SAICA, the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, offers the Thuthuka Bursary aimed at supporting disadvantaged Black African or Coloured students pursuing a career in Chartered Accountancy. Established through the CAs’ Eden Trust in 1987, this bursary fund has assisted many students since its inception. The bursary, covering tuition, books, meals, residence fees, and accommodation, is available for undergraduate studies at selected institutions offering accounting-related qualifications. Recipients also benefit from academic support, mentoring, work-readiness training, and exposure to experienced professionals.
Eligible applicants must be South African citizens from disadvantaged backgrounds, currently in Matric or within two years of completing Matric, with a minimum of 60% in Mathematics (Grade 11), and a combined family income not exceeding R350,000 per annum. They must be applying or intending to study towards the specified qualifications at SAICA-accredited universities in 2025 and have completed or will write the National Benchmark Tests. The bursary is awarded annually, and selection is based on academic results, financial need, and NBT performance. SAADP is also offer bursaries
The South African Actuarial Development Programme (SAADP) offers bursaries for students pursuing Actuarial Science qualifications at select universities. Established in 2003 to address the shortage of black actuarial skills in the country, SAADP has produced over 200 graduates. Funded by various donors, the programme provides financial, psychosocial, and academic support to recipients.
Eligible applicants must be South African citizens of Black or Coloured descent, currently in Matric or enrolled in Actuarial Science at partner universities. Matric students need to achieve at least 80% in Maths, Physical Science, and English. University students must have excellent academic records and come from financially needy backgrounds. Applications close on August 31, 2024, and candidates are selected based on academic potential, financial need, and a passion for Actuarial Science.

SARF
The South African Road Federation (SARF) is offering bursaries for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in fields related to road transport. Established in 1950, SARF aims to promote the road industry in South Africa and foster economic growth through education and training. The bursary covers disciplines such as Road Safety Engineering, Road Transport Economics, and Road Transport Management.
Eligible applicants, including residents of SADC countries, must be studying at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa and intend to work in the South African road transport industry after graduation. Preference is given to full-time students, employees of SARF members, and those studying at advanced levels. Recipients are required to make presentations, submit progress reports, and enroll as associate members of SARF.

UCT Online High School Scholarship Program for 2025
The UCT Online High School Scholarship Program for 2025 offers partial tuition support to students entering Grades 8 to 11. Sponsored by corporate partners like Valenture Institute and Sanlam, the scholarship aims to provide education to learners who may not afford full tuition. Eligible candidates must be South African citizens with proven financial need, intending to complete the CAPS curriculum online and achieve a National Senior Certificate (NSC).
To apply, submit your application online, ensuring you meet all eligibility criteria and provide the required documentation, including academic reports, proof of address, and proof of income. The application period runs from May 6 to August 31, 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be notified between September 1 and 30, with final scholarship awards made between October 1 and 31.
